vivid sydney 2013.
Hello wonders of a tripod. Vivid Sydney really tested my skills this time - from night photography with fast moving objects, to my patience when i'm about to have a good shot and someone thinks its a good idea to walk into my frame. But yes, the crowd tonight was crazy. Let's just say we all got our lifetime dosage of free hugs.
P/s I am dead beat but still forcing myself to post this today to compensate my absence (yet again). I foresee another hiatus after this though because face it, we all know i'm a master of the disappearing act haha! Till next time. x

testing.
Finally took my new D7000 for a quick run. The picture quality is astounding and i'm finding myself falling even more in love with each click. Pair that with my wide angle lens and i've got myself a dynamic duo.

the quadrangle.
I've always had this fascination with old architecture; brick-wall buildings with archways that make you feel like you've stepped into a magical world (or in my case, Hogwarts). Coming here actually made me mad at my uni for not establishing a building like this. Now how am i supposed to find a building equally as grand for my winter convocation? *sadface.
Certain shots would have looked much better with someone posing inside but i'm leaving all that when
Melissa comes. In the meantime, i still have a lot more to discover about beautiful Sydney.
P/s I'm thinking to get a good zoom lens since i'm currently living off my wide angle and (neglected) prime. Deciding between the:

ewen bell.
I am currently
obsessed with
Ewen Bell's photography. His pictures are beyond amazing and i can't begin to describe how inspired i am just by looking at it. That's where i hope to be one day. Taking pictures as beautiful as this, venturing around the world and sharing them with people. If i am able to make someone feel inspired through my pictures just like how inspired i am through his, well, that's all it takes for me to be happy.
He conducts photography tours and workshops and when i discovered about the Arctic tour, in my head i was already all set on going. Until i scrolled down and saw the price. $9500 for 14 days exclusive of flights. I'm guessing that's gonna take an eternity to earn with my already struggling wage rate and even so, am i really set on spending that much money by then? For now, i guess i can only dream.

shades of gray.
It's been really rainy these past few days so i thought i'd make my pictures black and white to balance out the gloom. Spent my afternoon at the Chinese Garden of Friendship, sipping on my tea accompanied with a good read. One of the many days where i get my dose of peace and serenity.

landscape rediscovered.
It has been a month since i last posted something, and i do apologise for that. Could never find the right time (nor the satisfaction in my pictures) to dedicate myself to. After giving it some deep thought however, it seems like my calling is leaning more towards landscape shots, though i would still love to occasionally drift from that direction. I know from firsthand experience that the public would rather see pictures of people but until i find myself a poser, you'll just have to bear with the beauty of Sydney.
much love

australia day.
So glad that i'm staying in the city now. With just a 10 minute walk to Darling Harbour, i was able to leave late and still get a decent spot to photograph the fireworks. It wasn't easy, being my first time. I had to constantly fiddle with the settings and shutter speed to get the right shots. Managed to get some good ones in the end though so i'm a little impressed with myself heh. All taken without a tripod btw.
Ending with my favourite.
Happy Australia Day!
